Welcome to SJSportsPage.com
We love everything sports in SJ. In fact, we love everything red and black! If it’s a sport, played by SJ kids, we want to report on it.
Our Story: As a kid growing up in St. Johns, I swam for the City Pool Programs and eventually the Sea Lions and Varsity Swim Teams. I played Little League baseball and started golfing at the age of 12. That transitioned into my first job at Twin Oaks Golf Course, 4 years on the Varsity Golf Team, chasing the mini tours as a professional golfer, and eventually to a career in the golf industry. I spent 4 years at the Emerald at Maple Creek as an Assistant Professional before becoming the Head Professional at College Fields Golf Club in Okemos, 14 years ago. Sports and St. Johns are in my blood.
Three years ago I joined the board of my childhood team, the St. Johns Sea Lions. Two years ago I was honored to take over as the President. This position has helped me find a passion and skill for marketing sports that I didn’t know existed. I have the most fun with the marketing and website side of the team and that’s when I came to the realization that the best part of the job was sharing the kids’ successes.
If you’re anything like our family, your weekends are planned around youth sporting events. My daughter participates in swimming, basketball, and soccer. In addition to her sports, she enjoys supporting her friends by attending their various games and activities too. Youth sports have expanded our opportunities to be involved in the community and grow our group of friends.
The success of this site will depend on sharing scores, pictures and local sports stories by parents, grandparents, and friends. We invite you to send pictures, scores, standings or any story ideas you think St. Johns sports fans would like to hear about. You can write it or give us the details and we’ll report it for you. The more information we have, the more connected we will be as a sporting community.
All stories and reporting will be positive and reflect the values I know every coach aspires to teach their players.
