The Redwings varsity girls basketball team had a tough test at home tonight against the 12-6 Olivet Comets. The Redwings got off to a fast start, getting up 5-2, but it was mostly Comets from there in the first half. Down 7-21, the Redwings had their best quarter in the third. They started the second half with a press, forcing turnovers and getting two baskets from Lexi Maloney. More good defense led to another bucket, followed by a three pointer from Isabel. Thelen. The Redwings had scored the first nine points of the second half and were within 5!
Olivet capitalized on some foul shots and pulled ahead again in the third. The Redwings held them to two points in the fourth, but weren’t able to close the gap. Redwings 22 Olivet 34. The Redwings fall to 5-13 on the season with Williamston up next at home on Friday.
Update: The team has a make up game tonight *2/23 vs Fowlerville. Friday will be senior night.
