The middle school girls basketball teams got their season underway today with a matchup against Dewitt.  Since Dewitt doesn’t have an 8th grade B team, our B team traveled to East Lansing to take on the Trojans.  On Wednesday, all four teams will take on Ionia.  Go Redwings!

7th Grade A 6 – Dewitt 58
7th Grade B 8 – Dewitt 31
8th Grade A 24 – Dewitt 36
8th Grade B 28 – East Lansing 21

The 8th Grade A team was the only team at home on Monday.  Dewitt got off the the hot start, scoring the first 7 points of the game.  The Redwings then went on a 5 point run to end the 1st quarter 5-7.  The game was tied with four minutes left in the half, but finished 13-17 for Dewitt.  The third quarter was the story of the game, Dewitt took a 28-15 lead into the fourth.  The Redwings played a great fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough, falling 24-36.  This will be one of the tougher teams they face all season and they’ll look to bounce back at Ionia on Wednesday.  Go Redwings!
