In a terrific back and forth game at MSU’s McLane Stadium, the Redwings came from behind to pull out the 7-5 win over Lansing Catholic. The Redwings will face the winner of tonight’s Okemos vs Mason game next Wednesday at 5pm.
The game started with the Redwings in control. Alex Owen’s sacrifice fly scored Joe Leonard from third and the Redwings were up 1-0. Murray Palmatier scored on Brennan Feldpausch’s sacrifice fly in the second and it was 2-0.
The Cougars scored 3 runs in the third and then added 1 in both the fifth and sixth innings and the Redwings found themselves in a 5-2 hole going into the bottom of the 6th.
Landon Mikula was hit by a pitch to start the inning and a single by Alex Owen drove him to third. Logan Kielen belted a drive to centerfield that scored Mikula (3-5). Brody Kusnier doubled to left field to score Owen (4-5). Murray Palmatier got on base with an infield single, Jacob Bones drove a single to right. Palmatier was out at 2nd, but the Redwings had runners on the corners. Brennan Feldpausch doubled to drive in Kusnier (5-5). Logan Dunham singled up the middle to score Bones and Feldpausch. The Redwings were up 7-5!
Joe Leonard was the winning pitcher, finishing up with scoreless 6th and 7th innings! Way to Go Redwings!
