SJYAA Basketball Announcement:
SJYAA basketball will not be competing in Red Cedar basketball for the 2021-2022 season. SJYAA will be running a 3rd – 6th grade program. This will involve playing 3vs3 FIBA style basketball and 5vs5 basketball done in-house. Games and practices will be during the week along with 1-2 tournaments each session on the weekend. We will be offering two basketball sessions. Basketball players can play 1 or both sessions.
Session #1 will be Nov/Dec and session #2 will be Jan/Feb. More details to follow on practice /game times, cost, and exact format. Playing in the tournaments is not required, if players just want to play the in-house games and do not want to travel.
SJYAA plans to run K-2nd basketball starting in December and ending in January. We are working through the logistics to make this season happen. We will send out details and open registration for K-2nd in November.
SJYAA will not be offering a basketball season for 7th and 8th grade boys and girls for the 2021-2022 season. 7th and 8th grade players, will be able to try out for the middle school teams and have a middle school basketball season. The middle school will offer open gyms to allow players to get more gym time than just the middle school season. We will communicate and send out an email with open gym times and details.
*Updated, for all coaches and assistant coaches interested in helping this season, we will have a mandatory coaching clinic run by the high school basketball programs, October 10th at 6:30 pm in the high school main gym.*

We feel strongly, this is putting St Johns youth basketball players in the best position to grow and participate in better basketball training in the 2021-2022 basketball season.
